TELESCOPES INVOLVEMENT BLURS THE VOICE'S CREDIBILITY

In East Asia Wednesday night is the day a new episode of the Apprentice Asia airs. Host Tony Fernandes the founder of Air Asia is adjusting to his role as the host and boss searching for an apprentice for his business. Fernandes is not as theatrical as Donald Trump but he is becoming more expressive in his comments and energy than he did on his initial show when we criticized his apparent rigidity.

The same can be said about his advisors who are also coming out of their businessman and businesswoman shells. The easing up is understandable as they are becoming more adjusted to applying their roles in a television and entertainment environment.

In the first episode the first elimination was a matter is suicide as the men's team leader lost the task. Being a positive thinking person he wouldn't criticize any of his team and chose to bring back the two strongest members to the board room for elimination. Fernandes was surprised and stated that he saw where this was going and fired the project manager.

Another shocker was last week's episode 3 when a Thai female contestant resigned because she was annoyed by the chatty cut throat environment of her female teammates. Fernandes said she wasn't cut out for the business world as it is sometimes cut throat.

What are most notable about this show are the differences of cultures and languages trying to bond and work together. In America on Trump's Apprentice he has all Americans that speak English. With this aspect Fernandes has a more difficult task to deal with. Tune in and check out Fernandes and his teams on the AXN Network.

THE VOICE IS BLOOMING

In our previous edition we noted that Voice coach Adam Levine made a bad choice selecting a song for Judith Hill who was shockingly eliminated. Following our opinion we viewed a re-run of the show and it was Hill that wanted to sing the song but Levine approved of her choice. Hill chose the upbeat "#thatPower" which is so diametrically opposite the strength of her voice. The song may have worked for Will I Am and Justin Bieber but not for Hill. Shakira is also guilty of making the mistake in choosing the wrong song for her former artist Kris Thomas.

Hill's insistence in doing "#thatPower" was critical as it was her worst performance. The most significant negative impact of her decision is each download of the song the contestants sing receives 10 votes towards their total vote count. Although Hill in our opinion was one of two of the best vocalists that was in the competition including Danielle Bradbery proves that trying something new to show her versatility was a major error.

With the eliminations of Holly Tucker last week and the double eliminations this week of Shakira's last contestant Sasha Allen and Adam Levin's final contestant Amber Carrington leaves Blake Shelton with two of the three remaining contestants in his bid to be the coach of three of the Voice's four winners of all-time. Only Usher and his pupil the androgynous Michelle Chamuel remain in the competition to compete with Shelton's country artists' 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery and the Swon Brothers for The Voice title.

NOTE: This Top 5 show aired in the USA with the performances on Monday and the results show on Tuesday. It will be televised on a delayed basis in East Asia this Sunday on the AXN channel.

All of the remaining contestants have quality voices. This season the overall excellence of talent is the shows best.

One of the upsides of the show is the change of judges is an improvement over past seasons as they compliment each other by exuding a warmer presence than with Christine Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. They seem to get along and Shakira is one of a kind with her cuddly, warm personality and charming Latino accent.

The greatest concern is the new involvement of Telescope who is supposed to be responsible for tabulating the votes. They are the company that has been doing American Idol's vote tabulations and we know what a nightmare of controversy that has been. In our opinion they are manipulating consultants giving input who they think should stay in the contest to raise a shows television rating. If that is so the American Idol disaster is a prime example that having Telescope involved in the Voice raise serious concerns of integrity.

We have yet to locate any information on the Internet regarding who this company is. THE VOICE MADE A BAD CHOICE!

AMERICAN IDOL'S DOWNFALL

The departure of American Idol judge Randy Jackson and other judges exposes why American Idol has been falling like a rock on the TV ratings. When the show began it was a hot because the shows talents were the stars. At that time the only judge the public might be familiar with was Paula Abdul. As the show became popular judge Simon Cowell was the most noticed judge due to his outrageous and disrespectful comments. At that point the powers that be started to focus on promoting the judges over the contestants.

Abdul was the first of many judging changes that would follow. Then was the decision of the judge's grand entrance at the beginning of the show by walking down stair steps to open up each episode. That was Cowell's idea.

As Cowell became disenchanted with the way the votes were being tabulated he commented that Idol was becoming more of a popularity contest than a show to find the best voice. Cowell eventually departed but his statement was the most significant statement he ever made. HE WAS SPOT ON!
