OUR TOP AMERICAN IDOL TALENT CHOICES

This American was void of choices being the talent pool is weak. Despite that disadvantage we have our choices. From the beginning Crystal Bowersox was our favorite voice. We compared her with Janis Joplin. She has undisclosed health issues causing AI to juggle the boy's performance night a day ahead to give her time to recover. She is the most original of all contestants with a great voice.

Siobhan Magnus caught our attention in the top 24 and had retained it ever since. She as a strong unique voice but Simon Cowell critiques her as being a strange little thing. With the songs she selects she performs them in a dark and mysterious manner. Her father is a musician and she credits having a large family unit as tremendous support. Each week her confidence grows and her performance improves.

Casey James is the good looking Texan that made Judge Kara DioGuardi get all excited. She has since put him in his place by heavily critiquing him in what we believe to be too excessive. He has a good voice, great look, plays great guitar and could turn out to be a David Cook type of success win or not.

Sumo wrestler sized Michael Lynche has stepped up his game and has surprised many with his strong R&B/soul voice. He is reminiscent of Luther Vandross when he does that type of material which is his strength. He wasn't one of our favorites but surprisingly he continues to come up with strong performances each week while his confidence builds in the process.

Lee DeWyze is a strong choice from the judges who feel he has a great recording voice. Up to this point we don't agree but he is the type of talent who grows on you as he develops his confidence and discovers who he really is during the competition.

One of our favorite voices is Aaron Kelly. We like his voice but he lacks experience which could be his undoing. He reminds us of David Archuleta but his voice is not a big and strong. The major difference being that Archuleta had a wealth of experience prior to entering the Idol competition while Kelly has none. He's only 16 and has a great future win or not as he gains experience and confidence.

AMERICAN IDOL SUCCESS

Though Kris Allen pulled a surprising upset in taking the title last season over favored Adam Lambert it is Lambert who is currently enjoying the most success. Southeast Asia's Channel V has been airing several of Lambert's videos. We have seen three of which 'For Your Entertainment' is the best.

All of the videos have strong songs and excellent visual production. Lambert's strong theatrical background as an actor helps enhance the videos but also the interesting sets (background), wardrobe and video editing make Lambert's videos a must listen and watch.

Channel V also is airing AI's fourth place finisher Allison Iraheta's video. Though the production is not as elaborate as Lambert's the song is strong as is her energetic presentation. Iraheta's talent was worthy of winning the AI title if she had more experience. Now on her own she appears to be achieving just that and should make some big noise in the music industry.

The Star World Network in Southeast Asia which is owned by Fox the network that delivers American Idol in America also uses Iraheta in their promos. They boast that they have 21 million viewers in Asia. When you consider that Shanghai, China has a population of 20 million Star World has a lot of growing to do or… if you wish... a great GROWTH potential in the region.

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

Idol has been showcasing much of their talent from last season in its elimination/results shows. Allison Iraheta, David Cook, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre have made live appearances. So what's up with two if their best talent in recent years Adam Lambert and David Archuleta performing on the show?

The shotgun/paparazzi TMZ TV gossip show in the USA cornered Allen at the airport and asked where he was going. His response was to do a concert at a Six Flags amusement Park. Six Flags is not a grade A venue but Allen took the inquiry and jibes all in stride.

DAVID BECKHAM TO REPLACE SIMON COWELL?

Unfortunately David Beckham's injury ends his bid to play in his fourth World Cup thus he will have plenty of time on his hands during his rehabilitation process. We've given this some thought and prefer to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

One humorous thought is that he could become Simon Cowell's replacement as a judge on American Idol. He is managed by the same group including the shows creator Simon Fuller. Being that he's married to singer Posh Spice he should have as much knowledge about music as Idol's new judge comedian Ellen Degeneres. The magnitude of his participation would shoot the ratings figures up through the roof. Beckham can spice up American Idol. Just_ah-thought (That's reggae).

BIG BROS OUT OF THE AMAZING RACE

The Rhode Island detectives have racked up their third consecutive 1st place finish on the Amazing race. In the process the knocked out former Big Brother USA contestants Jordan Lloyd 22 from Charlotte, North Carolina and her boyfriend Jeff Schroeder 31 from Norridge, Illinois.

The duo finished first in the first leg of the race but has struggled ever since. They finished last in the fourth leg but it was declared a non elimination leg. They finished next to last this past leg but their lack of direction skills got them into trouble and eliminated. To their credit they took their elimination in a good natured way.

With seven legs completed and five legs remaining, six teams still competing equates to all of the non elimination tickets have been given out. The detective's weakness will be intellectual tasks and endurance.

TRUE BLOOD RETURNS

It's on again season 1 of true Blood is on HBO. Two hours of back to back episodes are airing on the channel in Southeast Asian Monday nights at 8 PM Thailand time.
