RODRIGUEZ CAUGHT IN THE NUMBERS GAME

Forgive us lord but we are about to sin. After being in the bottom three for the second week in a row Karen Rodriguez was eliminated from American Idol in the 12th spot. After years of being lied to by Idol that this season is our best talent ever this time they told the truth and Rodriguez was the victim of an abundance of talent. Our sin is agreeing with the Idol powers that be that this is the best talent they've ever had.

The mix of this season's talent is tremendous. All have their own distinct vocal quality. Some contestants are more stage wise having had previous experience entertaining. If Rodriguez was in the mix of last season's talent she would easily have made it to the 7th spot or higher.

Odd enough as bad as last season's talent was individually they are the best at singing in a group ensemble. This seasons contestants are individually the best we've ever heard in seven seasons of reviewing the show but have been terrible in their first two performances as an ensemble. Place that in the GO FIGURE file.

Every singer in this seasons talent lineup is enjoyable to listen to we can't say that about previous seasons. The best previous overall talent that we opine was season four when Carrie Underwood won the title. But... that was then and this is now and Rodriguez is out.

Her loss of favor with those who vote is strange as she was voted in to the Top 10 and safe while six of the 14 that failed to be selected to the Top 10 performed for a wild card birth of which three were chosen. Rodriguez has a good voice that is pleasing to listen to but not powerful. She has a great look and super personality. The problem is those qualities failed to remain a Top 10 favorite as 12 is now her designated number for season 10 and show will not go on tour with the top 10 this summer.

For the second week in a row the bottom three were females. Haley Reinhart was in the bottom three also for the second week in a row. Naima Adedapo a wild card survivor also was in the bottom three.

Though her performance are good Reinhart is receiving mixed reviews from the judges in repeatedly throwing in her face do you know who you are as she changes her style in her choice of songs. This is a trap other Idols in previous seasons have fallen into primarily because they are young and trying to find their comfort zone but their voice has quality. It's a trick bag situation.

Pia Toscano is emerging as the most consistent strong performer. She is gaining strength as she goes along and could win this title. She has the look of a Vegas star and a voice to match. Up to this point she has not displayed a pop star quality i.e. Britney Spears, Lady Ga Ga or Christina Aguilera. She has enough talent to be Pia but her commercial appeal remains to be seen. She has a extra good voice and great look.

With all of the talent this Idol season has the show lacks a singer with a super voice that David Archuleta and Adam Lambert possess. The bottom line is this is a very talented group and whoever wins will be a valid choice.
