Internet personalities Kim and Penn Holderness won one for the gray panthers of the world by, due to the COVID pandemic winning a two year Amazing Race. The somewhat comedic team kept notes throughout and had the fitness to take on all physical challenges. The result was they became the oldest team to ever win the Amazing Race

OLDEST & BOLDEST HAD IT THOUGHT OUT

When it comes to winning the Amazing Race Internet personalities Kim and Penn Ryan & Dusty turned the page of the shows history in being the oldest team to ever win the race. Their combined ages of 92 failed to deter them to physical challenges.

Age proved to be the difference in the season's final roadblock challenge requiring good eye site. While standing within a stone boundary they were required to give the correct number of columns at Portugal's Santuário de Cabo Espichel (106) to a monk, who would direct them to the Pit Stop. Penn took on the challenge since the roadblock must be performed by the teammate that did not do the previous one. While he faltered the female team of Raquel & Cayla took the lead.

It took both teams several tries to complete the task while the last team of color in the race Indian father and daughter team Arun & Natalia got it right on their first try. At least that's the way it was edited into the program with Natalia's keen eyesight bring home their victory.

For their failure in a challenge involving rowing a boat Arun had difficulty figuring out how to row. Considering being knocked out of the race their 4th place finish was to them a victory as they had difficulty throughout the race including being eliminated in the 3rd leg. Following an 18 month COVID shutdown of production they were invited back since three teams that survived dropped out.

Kim had it all together win they arrived at the final challenge of teams having to answer 13 riddles by placing the correct tennis rackets with images of people, places, and items they encountered on previous legs onto the riddles before a tennis umpire would direct them to cross the Finish Line. Teams had to be observant as some rackets had similar images with minor differences.

Flight attendants Raquel & Cayla were there first but had problems remembering what stood out during the races legs.

Feeling that there would be some kind of memory challenge at the final Kim kept a notebook and drew images of the things of each leg that she thought stood out. The attention to detail was the bridge to their final run to be crown champions of the Amazing Race 33 and the $1 million prize.

By far they were the best team in the race and they saved their best for last. When the race resumed for the final seven legs (5-11) they had four 1sts, two 2nds and one 3rd place finish. During that same period Raquel & Cayla had two 1sts, four 2nds and one 4th place finish.

Best friends Ryan & Dusty who were the rock stars in the beginning of the race having two 1st and two 2nd place finishes during the first four legs faltered when the race resumed. From that point they had one 1st, five 3rd and one 4th place finish. The human interest story here is Ryan falsely spent 10 years in jail for a crime he did not commit.

OF NOTE:

Of the 11 teams in the race there were only three ALL WHITE teams competing. All three finished in the TOP 3! Is that telling?
