MICHAEL LYNCHE LYNCHED & ELIMINATED

When you reach the final four whoever gets voted off usually has enough talent to have a good professional career. This time it was the Sumo Man Michael Lynche's (and he was) time to go leaving Crystal Bowersox, Casey James and the JUDGE'S PET Lee DeWyze to battle it out for the Idol title next week.

Lynche was LYNCHED by the judges who didn't crucify him but gave him offhanded critiques when he actually out performed DeWyze. Lynche never sang out of tune while DeWyze often did but he always received the judge's support after an out of tune performance such as the remark judge Ellen Degeneres sated, after not enjoying what he did, "BUT YOU'RE SO GOOD" (ohhh please).

Judge Kara DioGuardi did the same after not being pleased numerous times with his performance she continually gave her support by saying, "YOU CAN WIN THIS THING." Lynche never received any of that type of encouragement though he technically has a better voice. That's the bad news. The good news is that with the proper attitude to support his tale Lynche can be successful given he signs with the right manger as other out of the top 3 finishers have done.

Kellie Pickler (season 5) and Jennifer Hudson (season 3) have had great careers after finishing sixth and seventh respectively in their years of competition. Chris Daughtry who finished fourth in season 5 as is now one of the most successful of all American contestants surpassing most of the winners in career success given the length of time since he appeared on the show. Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks has had limited success. In greater perspective season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson has had 9 years to build her credits.

The bottom line is not winning the American Idol title doesn't mean that contestant is not talented enough to have a successful professional career. The bottom line is the result of record sales and concert tickets sold mean more than votes from what we observe as being a very young, immature American Idol voting audience.

COWELL GOT IT RIGHT 4 A CHANGE

This season American Idol judge Simon Cowell has been out of form. Having given notice that this will be his last season on the show he has maintained a low profile and is permitting Judge Kara DioGuardi interrupt and talk over him. This is not the Cowell that many of us have come to love and hate.

When all of the judges and host Ryan Seacrest appeared on the Larry King show several weeks ago Cowell was almost mum while Seacrest and DioGuardi did most of the talking.

Cowell resorted to his old nasty self when he apparently took a disliking to Siobhan Magnus with hardly anything good to say about her although she had one of the three best voices in the contest. She was shockingly voted off at number 6. We had her charted no lower than a third place finish. After her departure Cowell seems to be in more of a relaxed mood.

Magnus's elimination caused a stir among the judges and fans of the show. The controversy grew when it was discovered that a phone number printed on Facebook was not a number to vote for Magnus, but to vote for Aaron Kelly. Some commentators speculated that the phone number mix-up may have led to Magnus's exit. A campaign to bring Magnus back into the show has been started by her fans but obviously it didn't happen.

In season five, voters claimed that phone calls dialed for Chris Daughtry during the first few minutes of voting were misrouted to Katharine McPhee's lines, when they heard her recorded message thanking them for voting for McPhee.

Last season it was reported that winner Kris Allen's fans stuffed the ballots with excessive phone calls that was against the rules. The bottom line is Allen's career isn't as successful and runner-up Adam Lambert who was favored to win.

But here is where Cowell has been spot on. In recent weeks he has continually advised the contestants to choose songs that will be strong enough and suitable for their voice to win the contest. Crystal Bowersox has been choosing songs that mean something to her more than the other three who joined her in the final four.

The strength of Adam Lambert and David Cook was they came to perform and chose songs that they believed displayed their talent in the best light. This season the vocal talent of the remaining contestants is there but their lack of professionalism is a glaring weakness that could deter them from having a successful professional career. Cowell has got this right. Stay tuned...

IDOL Ratings belie logic

Since the final 7 when American Idol ratings fell to a season low the ratings haven't been announced while the list notes TBA (To be announced). The red flags are up that Idol powers that be are trying to cover up their sinking ship.

NO GRACE from AMAZING RACE WINNERS

The famous last words of Amazing Race winner Dan Pious 24 in his Amazing Race bio prior to the start of the competition in response to the question the biggest challenge you and your teammate (brother) will face on the Race together. His answer was, "Staying under the radar and not rubbing the other teams the wrong way."

These deceiving brothers managed to stay under the radar until the final leg when they cut throats to win the race. It was one of the most disgusting disrespectful behaviors we have ever observed on the series.
