Idol's Sizzle Is Off It's IMAGE Steak

This season the American Idol shows format has changed considerably. A lot is to be desired as it's lost its sparkle and drive. It now seems too contrived which was demonstrated in previous weeks by the judges being introduced at the beginning of the program as they walked down a flight of stairs as if they were involved in a Super Bowl introduction. That idea is attributed to Simon Cowell.

This past week the band was wearing suites a departure to their usual casual attire. There have been numerous reports indicating that the selection of the contestants was poor. TV talk show host comedian Jimmie Kimmel commented after one Idol show how all of the contestants had bad performances during one episode and noted that the blame fell on the judges who picked the final 13 from the auditions.

Host Ryan Seacrest cut Kara DioGuardi off last week as she was giving a critique to Kris Allen which raises the question, is there tension in the American Idol house?

After the upcoming show it will be the final five as two of the contestants will be eliminated. Hopefully it won't include Allison Iraheta or Cowell will have a lot of egg on his face to wipe off and Iraheta's (who should have been saved) true talent will be wasted. Cowell has stated that he thought Iraheta had the talent to win the title.

NOTES:

Jennifer Hudson Returns

After we've previously noted numerous times that AI's most successful contestant Jennifer Hudson has never returned as a guest on the show since she was eliminated in an unceremoniously way in the seventh spot in season 3. She was a guest this past week on the results show which ironically was the show scheduled to eliminate the seventh contestant which is exactly the spot that Hudson was voted off the show. She summed up her return by saying, "I'm excited to be back on the stage where I was kicked off."

It was that season that Cowell said she was out of her depth in the competition. She then went on the star in the hit film and play Dream Girls and won an Academy Award for her film performance. She followed that up by winning a Grammy Award this year for the best R&B album. When Seacrest interviewed her there was no interaction or acknowledgment towards Cowell.

Hudson revealed tat she was engaged to be married and will be doing her first concert tour this summer.

MORE COWELL + SUSAN BOYLE

Susan Boyle is the latest singing sensation. She was a guest on the Larry King show Friday in the USA. The 48-year-old spinster from Scotland is a contestant on Brittan's Got Talent (BGT) who caught the audience by surprise with her ordinary looks and superb voice as she sang 'I Dreamed a Dream.' Her video from the program has attracted 30 million hits thus far on You Tube.

On the following BGT show she sang 'I Won't Be Lonely Anymore.' Boyle clams she's never been kissed. The media frenzy that has followed Boyle's success has quoted her as saying that she saw American Idol and Brittan's BGT judge Simon Cowell and BGT judge Piers Morgan as suitors.

Morgan who also was the winner on Donald Trumps Celebrity Apprentice was also a guest on the Larry King show said that he was flattered by her thinking of him as a suitor. He then invited her to dinner to which she accepted. The icing on the cake would be for Morgan and Cowell to give Boyle her first kiss ON CAMERA FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.

AMAZING RACE REVEALED

When you watch the Amazing race reality show you never really know who the contestants are. On Friday's Anderson Cooper's 360 feature news program on CNN as segment was devoted to the tragic death of an 11-year-old boy from Springfield, Massachusetts USA who hung himself after being bullied by schoolmates who accused him of being gay. The boy hung himself with an electrical chord.

A gay church founder pastor Mel White was a guest on the segment with the boy's mother who said her son was not gay. The twist is that White was a contestant with this gay son on the currently airing Amazing Race. White and his son were eliminated.

This week is disco week on American Idol. It would be wise for either Allison Iraheta or Lol Rounds to sing Donna Summer's smash hit, 'Last Dance.'

GO FIGURE: This season Cowell and Abdul seem to be getting along and in a sense appear to be involved romantically. This is not fact but simply an observation based on how they can't keep their hands off each other.

When you think about the numbers Ryan Seacrest announces that between 34-36 million votes were cast within a two hour period per show it certainly raises the question what kind of technology are they using? If you break it down into seconds with 60 seconds a minute and 60 minutes an hour that totals 3600 seconds in two hours times 2 equals 7200 seconds for the two hour period. When you divide that by 36 million votes the numbers indicate 5000 receptors are required to handle a load of a vote per second. WHAT TECHNOLOGY ARE THEY USING TO COUNT THE VOTES?
