Cambodia Daily reporter Simon Marks revealed THE SOMALY MAM FRAUD

The most recent CNN non story was the exposure of one of CNN's HERO recipients Somaly Mam as being a fraud. This follows CNN's repeated promotion of Mam and her Somaly Mam Foundation on their HERO's show. In the past we have criticized how CNN reports Cambodian information with a soft kids glove approach while ignoring the real problems and murders that occur in the country. As the saying goes you don't $#!t where you eat and CNN eats in Cambodia by promoting their tourism and accepting the Cambodian Tourism Ministry's advertising dollars.

The Cambodia Daily worked on the Somaly Mam Foundation being a fraud story for years until it finally came to fruition recently when Mam resigned from the organization admitting that some of the stories regarding the abuse of children in the organization were false. One girl that was heavily promoted as having been sexually abused had a disfigured face was later revealed by the Cambodia Daily that it was a result of an operation to remove a tumor.

When the Daily first reported the story they were rebuked by the organization stating tat the Daily's reports were false. Editor Kevin Doyle wasn't concerned since he saw the reports of the operation from the doctor that performed the procedure.

After several months and the story Somaly Mam: The Holy Saint (and Sinner) of Sex Trafficking by Daily's investigative reporter Simon Marks was published in Newsweek Magazine. In his report Marks noted that in her autobiography, Mam tells how a man turned her at a very young age into his domestic slave. He would gamble and drink, and when he came home, he sometimes beat her until she bled. He eventually sold her as a virgin to a Chinese merchant and then forced her to marry a violent soldier when she was just 14. She was later sold to a brothel in Phnom Penh, where she recalls being tortured with electrodes hooked up to a car battery.

Marks also noted that in 2009, Nicholas Kristof wrote in The New York Times about a girl named Long Pross, who had finally summoned the strength to tell her stunning story of sexual slavery. He reported that a woman had kidnapped Pross and sold her to a brothel, where she was beaten, tortured with electric wires, forced to endure two crude abortions and had an eye gouged out with a piece of metal by an angry pimp. Pross, Kristof said, was rescued by Mam and became part of her valiant group of former trafficking victims fighting for a world free of sexual slavery.

Mam resigned but those living the good life running the organization in New York City, USA remain on the management staff to collect more money from this hoax.

This is a story that CNN would dare NOT to report since they are implicated in promoting this fraud. They promoted the Somaly Mam Foundation to publicize a television show designed to boost their failing ratings. In the process they failed to do their due diligence in properly vetting the organization.

In the past CNN also failed to report on the murder of Cambodian activist Chut Whutty with two Cambodia Daily journalists present. They failed to report on a 14-year-old Cambodia girl that was murdered trying to protect her family's home from being bulldozed by the Cambodian government. They failed to report on the $250 million fine that former US Vice President Dick Cheney paid the Nigerian courts to stay out of jail. They failed to report on the murders and beatings of Cambodian journalists.

CNN failed to report on the mysterious death of Israeli Prisoner X who was in a high security cell. It's obvious that CNN would not want to report on anything negative about their beloved Israel. Several years ago they did report on BREAKING NEWS that there was a bombing in Israel and interrupted programming for over an hour only to later report that the sound was a SONIC BOOM.

Our review of their over the top program on child sex trafficking titled "Every Day in Cambodia" with Mira Sorvino was in our view nothing but an infomercial focused on promoting NGO's who are the parasites of Cambodia as they take donor money to live a colonialist lifestyle and the problems they raise money for go unattended.

The world doesn't need networks such as CNN as indicated by the failing ratings. One example is programs such as The Voice or American Idol draw 7-14 million viewers. One of the highest ratings for CNN exceeded just over a million viewers during the Boston bombing tragedy.

Since the powers that be forced CNN's founder Ted Turner out of the company it has floundered and failed to regain its respectability. It has become the cartoon network of news with its theatrical performance spin on the news. They select a topic and then have relatively unknown guest experts slice and dice the topic for the most part of an entire hour.

CNN is a sinking ship. Those who are guilty in the takeover of the CNN Network are gone. It is obvious that those currently in power don't have a clue what quality news reporting is all about and retaining Blitzer is evidence of that. It appears that CNN is aiming for the best theatrical performance award with their over the top theatrical spin and OPINIONS of the news.

While CNN rages on with their theatrical opinions they fail to cover the real Cambodian story of NGO's exploiting the topic of child sex abuse. The subject is used by NGO's as a tool to raise money resulting in them writing copious notes and reports so they can live a colonialist lifestyle while the children continue to suffer. Many NGO's DO NOTHING ABOUT SOLVING THE PROBLEM IT'S ALL TALK. FULL REPORT COMING
