AMERICAN IDOL & DAVID BECKHAM

What's that you say? What does American Idol have to do with David Beckham? Good question.

Reports have it that David and his wife Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) are going to be featured in a six part reality show on a TV network in America (we told you so).

Though the details haven't been worked out the deal was put together by those involved with American Idol. SOooooo whom could that be?

When you do the research the American Idol creator is Englishman Simon Fuller. Fuller managed Posh and the Spice Girls. That all came to pass when the girls were concerned over money matters with Fuller.

Fuller continued to manage Posh and then created American Idol. Fuller is also largely responsible for putting the deal together that enabled the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS (Major League Soccer) football league to sign Beckham who is scheduled to join the team in July.

Since we reported that Beckham was going Hollyweird and could turn up in the entertainment business he has done a commercial and now this proposed venture.

Some football purists are annoyed that Beckham made these moves citing that he could have more to give to the game of football by continuing his career in the EPL (English Premiere League) though not at Manchester United where he and manager Alex Ferguson have had a falling out.

Here's the deal. Beckham doesn't owe anything or have to prove anything to anyone. He has had success in European football so what is wrong with him making a career move that will entertain his good looks and obvious fan appeal and popularity? He is in the twilight of his playing career. He is a 30 something kinda (kind of) guy. The big three ohhh!!! (30) is almost a death sign in sports.

When you are paid $50 million US a year to play football a sane person doesn't walk away from that. When you can make more money from advertising, film and television it doesn't take a rocket scientist to reason WHY NOT?

American Idol judge Simon Philip Cowell was born October 7, 1959. His annual salary: $43 million and Net worth: £60 million.

Cowell was sued by Pop Idol creator Simon Fuller in 2005 over The X Factor, saying it was too much a copy of Pop Idol, but after a while, they settled out of court. The case was adjourned on the first day, and settled with Cowell's Idol salary increased to $36 million a year from $8 million before while Simon Fuller would gain a minority stake in X Factor. Upon the settlement, Cowell signed a new five-season American Idol agreement with Fox.

In 2002, Paula Abdul appeared as one of three judges for the reality television music competition show American Idol when Abdul realized that Simon Cowell's over-the-top judging style was heartbreaking for many young contestants, Abdul was so horrified, she considered leaving the show. Although their differences often resulted in extremely heated on-air exchanges and confrontations, Cowell says he played a major role in convincing Abdul not to walk off.

Abdul helped launch the The X Factor's third season, appearing at the London auditions as a guest judge alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne. That first episode of the hit UK talent show aired Aug. 19, 2006.

Hey I'm not going to lie to ya (you) we love American Idol; it makes a lot of things happen that we like to talk about.

In last weeks show following former Idol loser Jennifer Hudson winning the Academy Award (the Oscar) for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Dream Girls a current Idol contestant who has been getting the business as they say (criticism) from our favorite villain AI judge Simon Cowell.

When Antonella Barba was asked by the shows host Ryan Seacrest how did she feel about Cowell's cutting remarks she pointed out that she didn't mind since Cowell didn't like Jennifer Hudson.

Cowell's feathers flew up in an uproar as he said he wanted to get one thing straight that he didn't vote Hudson off the show but that the American callers did.

Hey admit it…. we love them too much. They including the judges are what entertainment is all about. Nuff said.

IT'S OWN (ON) FILM & AMAZING RACE ALL STARS

When one comes from the streets or the southern part of the United States one may have an accent. When you say ON they say OWN. Whatever…

That statement was made in the last episode of the Amazing Race All-Stars when Mary a fan favorite from Kentucky got upset when a team she helped in the race did not return the favor.

The irate coalminers wife told her husband David, the world and host Phil Keoghan that she didn't need anyone's help to win the race. "The game was own (on). I ain't givin (giving) this race to noboby. This is te last time I'm going to help anybody " she declared.

New Yawkah's (New Yorkers) and friends Drew and Kevin were eliminated. It seems they had to deal with some BAD KARMA.

When David (team Kentucky) put his bags on the luggage rack in first class one of the Yawkha's came along and took the bags off the rack and dropped them to the ground saying their bags don't belong in first class. Hmmmm….

The Kentucky hillbillies overcame this adversity but will they win the race? Tune in and find out. TV schedule below.

Also IT'S ON!!! The Temptations mini (three part) tele-series is being shown on the MGM channel.

Double also is the film "Yanks" is on the MGM channel. The film features Richard Gere and a former musician friend of mine Chick Vennera in a featured role.

Venanera also played the part of the Leather Man in "Thank God It's Friday and had a staring role in "The Milagro Beanfield Wars" produced by Robert Redford.

ASAP IS THE BEST VARIETY SHOW ON THE AIR.

The ABS-CBN variety television show is the best variety show I have ever seen. It does have its flaws but when you count the number of entertainers that perform one can't examine all of the chinks in their armor but it makes one wonder… How can they put this show together?

There must be over a 100 performers in the cast counting the dancers. The show moves at a rapid pace and the majority of the entertainers are busy doing other things during the week such as being actors in other TV series, live performances , commercials and their personal lives. It is mind-boggling how this many people can rehearse, keep up their other schedules and be ready to do a live show on Sunday in the Philippines.

Though when the cast speaks some speak in their native language but they don't talk that much unless they are plugging their appearance and that is most stated in English. The songs keep rolling out and they are sung in English. There is very little space in the show and that is a good thing.

There are three distinctive groups of performers in the cast. One is the younger group that ranges in age from 18-25. This group is wide-eyed, full of energy and talent spearheaded by 18-year-old Sarah Geronimo.

They are followed by the 25 to 40 age group that for the most part are married with children and the gleam in their eyes has dimmed a bit but they remain talented. Perhaps it's about waking up with the morning cries of the babies.

The 40 plus bracket that for the most part have grown children features the talents of ZaZa Padilla, Gary V and Pops Fernandez. Fernandez tours a lot and appears when in the Philippines.

Lani Misalucha joins that group. She is a polished performer that has been appearing in Las Vegas for quite some time. The younger set can learn a lot from her as she displayed professionalism this week when she was too far from the monitor that had the words of the song. She admitted that she couldn't see the words over the microphone as she stopped singing while making her declaration and walked towards the monitor and began singing when the words came into sight. Now that's professionalism.

She can show the younger set that one can make a mistake and work their way through it and continue to perform without getting flustered.

Geronimo has added to her already full plate schedule as she is also hosting a show "Little Big Star" a reality star search for kiddie singers. That is a good fit for Geronimo since that is how she made it to the big stage by being a contestant on a youth talent show.

Geronimo's father was instrumental in her career. At three, she was already in the kiddie show "Pen pen de Sarapen." She was also cast in "For Kids Only" and "Hiraya Manawari". She was part of the first batch of stars in "Ang TV." But it was Sarah's talent for singing that her father chose to focus on and improve by enrolling at the "Center For Pop Music" at six years old. He trained Sarah at home for two hours everyday.

Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu (born April 19, 1990) is blooming as a performer and actress. The 16-year-old winner of the Teen Big Brother show this past spring was a shy girl that hardly spoke above a whisper. She turned 14 four days before she entered the Big Brother house on April 23. She is maturing and her self confidence shines through on stage on the ASAP show as well as her acting chores on a TV soap.

If you want to start your Sunday's off with a smile and a have a happy feeling the ASAP show is a must watch. With so much talent you will more than likely have a favorite performer/s and become a regular viewer of the program. See schedule below.
