THE BEST VOICE OF AMERICAN IDOL ALMOST SILENCED

"That voice can move anybody. She is unbelievable with that voice," in house mentor Jimmy Iovine said of Jessica Sanchez on the performance show. He may have felt that way but America's voters didn't as she received the least amount of votes and had to sing for her survival. The shocked judges used their one save of the season to permit the most talented singer in the competition to continue in her quest to become the next American Idol.

Our prophecy to Jessica Sanchez being the victim of elimination by using the save on the wrong person too early almost came to fruition. In our Video Beat MAX edition in March we stated our case as follows. Last season was their best ever but apparently that was an aberration. What is shaping up is the FIX APPEARS TO BE IN to SAVE PHILLIP PHILLIPS and push him to the Top 4 if not to win it all. This could be another Pia Toscano Casey Abrams scenario and Jessica Sanchez the true talent in the competition could be the victim.

After her performance on the performance show singing "Stuttering" by Jazmine Sullivan Sanchez received praise from the judges in taking on a technically difficult song that was not a popular or familiar son that most viewers were familiar with.

Idol host Ryan Seacrest built the drama as Sanchez was called to stand on the right side of the stage after Hollie Cavanaugh was asked to stand on the left. Joining Cavanaugh on her side was Phillip Phillips and Colton Dixon. Joining Sanchez were Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet.

Skyler Laine was the last called and Seacrest informed her that she was safe and asked her to join the group that she though she belonged with. She refused but prior to that she hugged Cavanagh (her best friend on the show), Dixon and Phillips.

Seacrest then revealed that the Sanchez side was in the bottom three. Ledet was first saved followed by Testone. The audience roared with disbelief. The eyes of the judges bugged out when the realization that Sanchez was chosen by the American public to be eliminated and had to sing for her survival.

Sanchez started singing and was then joined by the judges who hugged her and Jennifer Lopez said, "Give me that mich (microphone), "This is crazy. You're not going anywhere."

Randy Jackson grabbed the mich and said "We are saving Jessica without any doubt. This is one of the BEST SINGERS IN AMERICA! PLEASE VOTE FOR THE BEST."

Previously we brought up this possible scenario in using the save wisely and not having another Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams fiasco that occurred last season. Last week Lopez wanted to save DeAndre Brackensick because as she says to all the boys... she loves him. She needs to start thinking with her head and not her panties.

The good news is the safe was used on the right person and only contestant deserving of it. Ms. 747 (Lopez) has a tendency to fall in love with all of the pretty boys and is overly expressive about it.

The show would be better if she restrained her hormones. Steven Tyler has toned down his act since he went crazy over the appearance of then 15-year-old contestant Shannon Magrane about how hot she was and said it to her stunned family. He later apologized but will be remembered for that for his entire career just as Zinadine Zidane will always be remembered for the head but on Italy's Matterazi.

NOTE:

It was a fitting night for former Idol losers Jennifer Hudson (7th in season 3) and last seasons James Durbin (4th) to be the guest performers on the results show. Durbin has dyed his hair blond, sounded good and has sold over 100 thousand records thus far, is going on tour and appears to be a happy man. He recently got married with last season contestant Stefano Langone being his best man. Casey Abrams was a guest and got lost on the way showing up 19 minutes late in holding up the proceedings.

Hudson is the only former Idol to win Academy and Grammy Awards. She has lost a lot of weight and looks great.

Durban's appearance is a tribute to how great last season was. Idol's creator Simon Fuller signed half of the contestants to management contracts including Durbin, Scott McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Hailey Reinhardt, Casey Abrams and Pia Toscano.
