NR TOP 10 APRIL Many Changes & Shockers

This months NR Top 10 was full of surprises as some shockers came to light in our research. One of the most surprising revelations was the emergence of former NBA and film star Dennis Rodman surfacing as one of the most visited sections. What makes this so amazing is this is a section about a person who currently isn't involved in any projects. Why the interest? Go figure!

Our Sports Notes column took five of the Top 10 positions as well as our bonus spot for the oldest story viewed with our report on Manchester United's narrow victory over the Thai National team in 2001.

Another shocker was our Video Beat column about the American Idol elimination of Ramiele Malubay bolted to number four in our television coverage within a week. This is the first time any story has risen so rapidly though it did not qualify to be ranked in the overall Top 10. This is more of a human interest point of view and bears worth watching in its popularity.

NR Top 10 ratings continue to rule on our NR Top 10 overall ratings list. Last month we covered a ratings period from January 1, 2007 to March 2008. This month we returned to the overall ratings and the NR Top 10 columns continue to dominate.

The results were the NR Top 10 July 2007 returned to the number one position followed by the NR Top 10 May 2007 column. They returned to the positions they previously held. The commonality between the two columns is a focus on Dr. Beat Richner who provides free health care for Cambodian children.

The most surprising entry was at the number three position where our Phnom Penh Faces & Places column from September 2005 bolted up the charts. The highlights of the column include ESPN's Scott O'Donell in Phnom Penh, Paddys' Gym - Destroyed Weapons Art Exhibition and Helping Cambodia's Poor.

The 2007 Year In review locked down the number four spot and is a new entry in the NR Top 10 ratings. Another surprising reentry was out Sports Notes December 2005 column featuring Thailand Wins SEA Games Title noting that Teerathep Winothai lead the Thailand national team to the SEA Games Title. The column also features is Singapore' Coach Movia, then Indonesian coach Peter Withe's Worst Nightmare, as well as an ESPN sports analyst Suggesting that former Brazil and Real Madrid coach Wanderly Luxemburgo was a good choice to be the next coach for Manchester United.

Number six was our Sports Notes December 2007 column featuring the Jose- Mourinho Fabio Capello saga as well as notes on KAKA becoming the FIFA WORLD PLAYER of the Year. We also included our choices for an INTERNATIONAL NBA ALL STAR TEAM. The issue of steroid use in MLB (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL) was raised and Cambodia's Ravy Khek becoming the first to be convicted of.....(well you have to go there)

The oldest entry was our story when Manchester United narrowly defeated the Thai National team 2-1 in Bangkok. Manu U has a full compliment of stars including David Beckham, Fabien Barthez, Ryan Giggs as well as new signings Ruud Van Nistelrooy, and Juan Sebastian Veron. They barely escaped with their dignity in hand.

TOP SECTIONS VISITED

There was a big shake up in the sections most visited category this month with Soccer/International Football returning to the top spot where it has virtually lived since we started reviewing our ratings in 2003. The fastest riser was Cambodian Sports which is a first time visitor to the NR Top 10 sections most visited. The Freshie, Boxing, NFL (National Football League) and Feature sections have held their ground among the Top six positions.

An Entertainment section listing from 2006 is new on the list and rose to the number seven spot. It features actress/singer SARAH GERONIMO the Philippines answer to Celine Dion and a performer on the ASAP variety show as well as Lam Morrison said to be Thailand's greatest Rock n Roll guitarist and the American Rock band VANHALEN who announced that the were returning to the world of Rock N Roll tours. Another newcomer to the list is a section on former NBA and film star Dennis Rodman.

It seems only fitting for this being the American Idol season that an old previous Entertainment section with stories related to the show has registered a number of visitors and hold down the 10th spot on the sections most visited list. Features American Idols were American Idol contestant SANJAYA MALAKAR who ironically was eliminated this week in the seventh spot as an American Idol finalist. Also sexy AI contestant Antonella Barba who rocked American Idol's world when it was revealed that she posed for sexy photos. The Business section returned to the list. It previously made the Top in February's ratings.

National Radio is published in five languages, English, Thai, French, Russian and Khmer (Cambodian language). Any of our foreign language material and our Roman Wanderaugh columns are legally available ONLY on our National Radio site.

INTERNET THEFT?

In researching the findings we have found that search engines Yahoo, Google and MSN are all guilty of misleading the public. They have linked our story information to other sites without our permission. Those sites include Thai Visa, Washington University in the USA and UNESCO.

We have tried to contact Yahoo regarding this matter but there was no response. For our story on Digital Divide Data titled Bridging The Digital Gap Yahoo linked our information to UNESCO and Washington University web sites as noted below.

Cambodia (PDF) 13 James Loving, "DDD - Bridging the Digital Gap of Have and Have. Notes," (by James Loving, National Radio Text Service, 8 April 8, ... www.unescobkk.org/fileadmin/user_upload/ict/Metasurvey/CAMBODIA.PDF - 117k - View as html

The questions are:

1. Why would a company that is valued at billions of dollars employ dishonest practices?

2. Who is responsible for manipulating information that is misleading to the public?

3. Who is responsible at UNESCO in permitting the practice?

Yahoo used the same story to mislead the public to the Washington University (USA) web site as noted below:

Cambodia (PDF) 13 James Loving, "DDD - Bridging the Digital Gap of Have and Have. Notes," (by James Loving, National Radio Text Service, 8 April 8, ... www.com.washington.edu/ict4d/upload/2004052712430458_03760155.pdf - 117k - View as html WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

Our Roman Wanderaugh columns have been linked to other web sites by all three search engines without our permission. The most flagrant violator is Thai Visa. We have contacted them in the past but they have ignored our request to take our stories off their site.

All three of the mentioned search engines have used our story information and linked it to Thai Visa without our permission. Thai Visa actually stole our story and posted it on their site. In the past they not only stole our Cambodia By Land & Sea story but also used our photo. Since that time the photo is not on our story on their site.

Google provides advertising for the site. The question is why would a company that is worth billions of dollars resort to supporting a web site that steals?

The information of our information page on the Google site also had the following endorsing going to the Thai Visa site. ©2007 Google - Google Home - Advertising Programs - Business Solutions - About Google FRONT PAGE WITH THAI VISA

MSN did the same. They listed incorrect information and linked our work to Thai Visa as noted below:

Thaivisa.com The latest updated Thai visa immigration news; work permit and residence permit in ... Friday, 15 December 2006 Cambodia visa trip "TRAVELING AROUND" by Roman Wanderaugh o www.thaivisa.com/344.0.html o ¡¤ 7/14/2007 o ¡¤ Cached page

MSN also listed the headline TRAVELING AROUND on the Cambodia Land & Sea story. It raises the question why was it necessary to make two listings on the same story to link to the Thai Visa site?

Roman Wanderaugh and any other National Radio columns are only legally available on the Internet on National Radio. We DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION for any other web site to use our material including soliciting our photos to the public.

We negotiate directly with interested parties for use. We are published in print in five languages. We do not approve of Thai Visa using our material and all of the search engines misleading the public to other web sites using National Radio information.

Isn't a search engines job to lead the public to the information they seek? It is clearly stated on our National Radio web site:

© Copyright: National Radio. Any use of these materials, whole or in part, is prohibited unless authorized in writing by National Radio. Contact: nationalradio@yahoo.com All rights reserved.

The questions are:

1. Where is the integrity of these companies?

2. Why should people do business with web sites that employ illegal practices?

3. If search engine companies render misinformation regarding linking the public to web sites they aren't searching for while stealing the traffic from the site the public intends to reach does that reflect on the accuracy of the value of their business that could inflate the value of their stock?

4. Is there an ENRON in the house?

We believe that a search engine should take the public to the web sites they are trying to find and not misdirect them. FULL STORY NEXT MONTH.

Sports Notes - Manchester United Eke Out 2-1 Win Over Thailand - July 2001 - "The Devil Made Them Do It" - You would think that the lord was returning to part the Red Sea again the way Thai soccer fans reacted to the announcement in April that Manchester Untied was coming to Bangkok to play the Thai National team. No this is not about religion but it is about soccer and the Thais take their soccer as seriously as a religion. If this were a biblical story the irony would be Manchester United are known as the Red Devils.
