BACK TO BUSINESS

From last months crossover NR Top 10 it's back to business time and our standard ratings. This month it was strictly business on our NR Top 10 as stories about or related to business emerged in our most read content. Interest in our China press releases leaped out for the first time in our Top 10 history with Henry M. Paulson, Jr., former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and chief executive of Goldman Sachs doing business in China. China Airlines and Carl Zeiss also commanded attention. Former US presidential candidate Herman Cain was our fastest mover in the Press Release category as he leaped on the charts within days of our release of his being signed by Fox News as a contributor.

Taiwan entertainer A-Mei was the most popular and fastest moving NR generated story. This dynamic little lady is what life is all about as she has battled through ups and downs in life and trying to make it in the entertainment business. She has and in a big way as she hit a high in her career leading to her being mentally exhausted and exiling herself to the USA for some R&R.

After flushing her brain and being reenergized she returned to Taiwan to begin a new phase of her career acting. She overcame more barriers by appearing in TV stage and a Japanese musical. The dynamo is on top again embarking on the next phase of her career following the release of her most recent album.

We've seen two documentaries on A-Mei during the past few years. Our story reviews the documentary that aired on the BIO Channel. It goes where the previous doc produced by MTV feared to tread as it is more up close and personal.

Both docs show her tremendous talent and voice. Over the years during my musician and journalism careers I've seen those recognized as being the best entertainers of all time performing live including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones. A-Mei ranks right up there with them. At this point though I've never seen her perform live but she's on the MUST DO LIST and this story will tell you why her biography is a MUST WATCH.

American Idol returned to the TV screens and returned to our ratings due to their new season currently being televised. After covering this show closely since season five we came to the conclusion that Idol was more about collusion than fusing the best talent they can offer. Last season's fiasco was that last straw as we came away from the results with anger, a sick feeling in our stomachs and could not bear to watch it again. It was absolute bull$#!t causing pain and suffering.

This season TV viewers were force fed with promos of the show on all Rupert Murdoch (the owner of Fox Television) related stations that were pimping Idols new judges this season along with their Fog Horn Leg Horn judge Randy Jackson bragging about how great they are. More bull$#!t but we took a look at the girls audition show.

It was so absurd that we refused to watch another show until the Top 20 girls audition which again showed the leopards spots of favoritism that has led this show on a downward path over recent years in losing audience share and ratings. As they say you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Which category are you in?

CNN's Piers Morgan Morgan won't go away as he returns with his rants opposing guns and interrupting guests on his show. He's been ranting about gun control since the unfortunate killings of elementary school children in the state of Connecticut USA. He invites them more to rant at them regarding his point of views and won't permit them to answer without cutting them off. Our story is regarding a petition to have him deported endorsed by gun owner advocates. Pierce needs to be careful he's a foreigner among gun carrying red necks and needs to learn about the culture of American rednecks and guns. With the enemies he's creating he'd be wise to wear body amour or return to England where it's safe for his kind.

Politics reigned this month as former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and chief executive of Goldman Sachs Henry M. Paulson, Jr. drew some attention for doing business in China. Our review of the film Inside Job also was in the political limelight.

SECTIONS MOST VISITED

Television regained the most attention and the top position after a long absence. The NBA section moved up two notches from 4th to 2nd. The China section returned to the charts holding down a strong 5th position. BIZ WHO IS leaped from 10 to 6th and the Entertainment section returned to the charts in holding down the 7th spot. It was more business as the Business section notched the 8th spot followed by the return of the NBA's LA Lakers section to 9th. The charts are rounded with a new entry the BIT (Business & Internet Technology) section. Five sections qualified for the charts that were not in last months ratings.

ARCHIVES

This was a strange month as there were four Cambodian related stories that jumped into the most read pile. Both stories were published in 2003 when most of Phnom Penh's roads were dirt and the streets without lights.

Our top story was about Bill Herod whom we deem the godfather of the Internet in Cambodia. With the help of Canadian financing Herod brought Internet service to Cambodia. The growth of this country can be largely attributed to Herod. Can you imagine doing business without having Internet service?

Herod then moved on to teaching Cambodia youth how to use the Internet with his NGO KIDS. They also taught Khmer youth how to build web sites. Many of his students opened business and flourished with their knowledge.

The story that attracted attention was when after KIDS he ran an NGO titled RAP which helped repatriate Cambodians that ran afoul of the law in America who were deported after they served their prison sentences.

Currently Herod is helping the indigenous people in the northeast of Cambodia how to support their selves in a rapidly growing and becoming expensive Cambodian society.

The second story is about another NGO leader TELEMEDICINE'S DAVID ROBERTSON. Prior to Telemedicine Robertson worked for the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Media Lab as an assistant to the Director Nicholas Negroponte. He also ventured to the remote parts of Cambodia to assist in medical treatment.

In Cambodia the Killing Fields are over. The game of football is now helping heal a nation and its people. For many years during the Vietnam War, Khmer Rouge Civil War and the Coup d'Edat of July 5-6, 1997 there was no organized soccer being played in the country. The conflicts destroyed the records of the history of Cambodian football. All that can be pieced together at this time is from the memory of those who were there or made mental notes
