NR NR TOP 10 JUNE - YO!!! WUSS-SUP?

There is a shakeup in the ratings this month with several surprises particularly one column that didn't make the Top 10 but rocketed up the charts within 24 hours. That column being Video Beat June MAX. The column was posted Monday June 23rd. We took a sample the following day and it was # 36 overall of the more than 600 stories we have posted on the web. Why the interest? Our rationale…

The article has four major components to its leading off with the NBA taking the top six spots in the TV ratings in the United States for the month of June upon its release date. The second being our insight to the NBA referee betting and fixing NBA games scandal, the third being our view on the Pinoy Dream Academy talent show in the Philippines that has started off with some backstabbing, prejudice and discrimination among the group towards a contestant whom some talk down to in a condescending manner with annoying facial expressions and rolling of the eyes as if they are above her. They try to make this contestant feel small and insignificant. . A root cause appears to be that she has more talent then one half of the group and jealousy could be a factor. The female contestant appears to be in a situation where she's being set up to fail. When the show began she wasn't accepted. They chose two teams as a result of which she wasn't chosen but left over for the team with the last choice.

The fourth element is our focus on the Irish Band The Commitments film being televised on the MGM Network and their recording relationship with rock guitar legend and composer Steve Cropper.

Our focus this month is featuring the stories that were published between January 1, 2007 through June 23, 2008. We applied the same focus last month but simply added June to the research. The reason being is that we have found there is very little change in the overall ratings as some web sites and outside sources have links to their special interests. Those links come from fan clubs and the like. That came to light when we did our research and the names TATA Young and former MBL (Major League Baseball) star Mike Piazza's name came to our attention.

In Piazza's case a link came from one of his fan clubs. After pressing the link there was more TaTa Young information attributed to National Radio as well as fan comments: Paradorn Quits Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan has left his Thai girlfriend singer Tata Young. News reports say the breakup was due to complaints about the relationship sent via email to a web site. source: www.nationalradio.com

The insinuation was what we reported in our Sports Notes column was a result of Young's breakup with Thai tennis star Paradorn Srichaphan. To set the record straight we never received an email about Young or posted it. We did report on it after other sources did so.

Since her breakup and the allegations by the TaTa News website published in 2003 we met with Young's father and manager Tim Young at his office and we've talked to him several times via telephone as well as a second office visit. When we first met we discussed the situation but he did not accuse us of being responsible and we didn't report on our meeting. He noted other Thai sources causing the flair-up. He gave us permission to take photos of TaTa photos in the office for our use. He also gave us copies of her CD's and videos. Common sense will dictate that if her father/manager had a problem with us he would have disclosed it at our meeting and not given us promotional materials. Of course the question must be asked does common sense exist in the Thai mentality. But as former Bangkok Post entertainment columnist Bernard Trink (The Nite Owl) said and wrote many times TIT (This Is Thailand). He also advised to me privately… "If you heard it from a Thai assume it's a lie." In this case... it is.

This month the number spot went to the NR Top 10 for May 2008 that features several points of interest in the International football/soccer world, human trafficking and the Philippines entertainer Wendy Valdez. Our Video Beat column is gaining strength by taking seven of the top 10 spots led by the Larry King Interviews the top 10 American Idols taking the second spot. King also notched the eighth spot in our Biz Who Is column.

Sports Notes December 2007 took the third position. That features England Manager Fabio Capello's appointment, KAKA being selected as the world's best footballer, Pele receiving honors from FIFA as well as our selection for an NBA International All-Star team.

Our oldest story continues to be Jordan Rules, a feature on former NBA sensation Michael Jordan who is now an executive for the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA.

TOP SECTIONS VISITED

Cambodia Sports took over the top spot in the sections most visited switching places with International football/soccer which had maintained the number one spot over a greater period of time than any other section. This is a surprise movement since we have basically abandoned our coverage of Cambodian Sports for almost two years.

Phnom Penh and the NFL (National Football League) maintained their 3rd and 4th positions with FIFA taking the fifth spot away from the Los Angeles Lakers. In researching the findings we have found that search engines Yahoo, Google and MSN are all guilty of misleading the public. They have linked our story information to other sites without our permission. Those sites include Thai Visa, Washington University in the USA and UNESCO.

We have tried to contact Yahoo regarding this matter but there was no response. For our story on Digital Divide Data titled Bridging The Digital Gap Yahoo linked our information to UNESCO and Washington University web sites as noted below.

Our Roman Wanderaugh columns have been linked to other web sites by all three search engines without our permission. The most flagrant violator is Thai Visa. We have contacted them in the past but they have ignored our request to take our stories off their site.

All three of the mentioned search engines have used our story information and linked it to Thai Visa without our permission. Thai Visa actually stole our story and posted it on their site. In the past they not only stole our Cambodia By Land & Sea story but also used our photo. Since that time the photo is not on our story on their site.

Google provides advertising for the site. The question is why would a company that is worth billions of dollars resort to supporting a web site that steals?
