AMERICAN IDOLS with LARRY KING TOP CHART

Yo!!! We've got this Larry King American Idol thing going on. It happens every year that for some reason our Video Beat column about King interviewing the Top 10 American Idols after the winner is decided generates interest from our readers. That column also features out Top 10 American Idol stories from this season (2010).

Sports stories came on strong this month taking five of the Top 10 positions. Football took four of those spots led by John Terry becoming the next Tiger Woods. The piece asks questions about the dissecting of Tiger Woods life for his extramarital affairs compared with Terry having a relationship with a teammate's girlfriend. Ouch!!! Watch your back!!!!

We point out that some media have an agenda and are biased. Some media are influenced or controlled by the CIA. The overbearing Woods coverage was ruthless compared to Terry's who was portrayed as a guy just out having fun or just being one of the boys. Ohh…Please!!!

The irony to that is England's 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany Sunday night resulted in their embarrassing exit from the World Cup. We predicted that Terry's disrespect and indiscretions would cost England in the football's biggest competition. Given his behavior in being a team distraction in South Africa we were SPOT ON.

In a related football piece 4 Years 4 Nothing took the fifth spot. The story is about how Ireland was robbed out of participating in the World Cup when during the deciding qualifier against France the Thierry Henry hand ball incident occurred. It points out that a team works their tail off for FOUR YEARS to participate in the World Cup only to lose out not by their lack of skill but from poor officiating as is currently happening in this edition. France's Karma came out and the payment has yet to be paid in full, they quit in the competition and went home embarrassed and ashamed.

Our fastest riser The World Cup Begins notched the sixth spot. The column was published on June 11th and our sample was taken June 17th. A piece on former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink playing Russian Roulette in taking on the Chelsea managers position as well as being under the thumb of Russian owner Roman Ambramovich after Ramo went through several managers including the Special One Jose Mourinho. That column notched the seventh spot.

Of note Richard Ricciardi's piece on Thaksin Shinawatra laying low after the Thai riots bolted up to the 8th position. The mysterious Filipino concert in Phnom Penh that didn't happen took the 9th spot and American Idol Resembles Cambodia topped out the NR Top 10.

SECTIONS MOST VISITED

This month the TV/Radio section leaped to the top of the charts in large part due to our coverage of the American Idol contest. On the back of that the BIZ WHO IS section featuring Idols creator Simon Fuller finished strong in the third position while the American Idol notched the fifth spot. We ask some tough questions about the legitimacy of the voting and point out how contestants are owned by Fullers management and record companies as in a contrived monopoly. This is an Idol gives back scenario.

There were two new entries this month. The Business section returned to the charts in snapping up the fourth position. What drives that? We don't have a clue unless Shakira's participation in the World Cup has something to do with it. The aforementioned American Idol made its return.

Sports took three of the 10 spots with our soccer section taking the 7th spot, sports notching the 8th and the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers taking 10th. Since the sample was taken on the 17th prior to the Lakers winning the championship we derive that the interest was generated from out story regarding the Lakers/Celtics Rivalry.

Travel made a showing with our Cambodia section taking the ninth position and the Thailand sections settling in on 9th. A major surprise was the soccer/football section from 2005/06 almost making the top 10. The 2006 World Cup stories had something to do with it.

The question is WHO WILL WIN THE WORLD CUP?

ARCHIVES

Our choices for our archives section REAL MADRID STARS AMONG FIFA's PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES was influenced by the World Cup. Given the England, Italy and France crashing out of the World Cup indicates a need for change. Our piece regarding the 2006 FIFA Player of the year nominations notes how the game has changed in 10 years. In July 2000 Florentino Pérez was elected club president with the promise to sign the world's best players to compliment Raul and Roberto Carlos. The signings included then-FC Barcelona star Luis Figo. Pérez continued to sign star players such as Zinedine Zidane (2001), Ronaldo (2002) and David Beckham (2003). It was then that the media began referring to the team as Los Galácticos. How many of those names remain in the game today and where are they now.

Also we included the Bottom 10 Moments in Sports, 2006 with Zinedine Zidane's head butting incident topping the list.
