Unparalleled that one subject and one category has taken 9 of our NR Top 10 spots in our monthly rankings. American Idol's questionable decision making and devious behavior by the judges and in house mentor Jimmy Iovine has drawn the interest of our readers. The over the top praise while ignoring the faults of the programs winner Phillip Phillips we recognized at the Top 9 level when we expressed our concern that THE FIX WAS IN FOR PHILLIPS TO WIN. Our suspicions were heightened as the praise of Phillips continued while we were concerned about the obvious abuse to the super talented minorities in the contest Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet were being set up to fail. After we expressed our concerns and predictions all came to fruition.

PHILLIPS WIN FIXED? INQUIRING MINDS WANTED TO KNOW

Before we get into the meat of it all it must be pointed out that the only story that was not an American Idol review was last months Sports Notes column regarding who is the best manager in football notched the 8th spot. We raised the question between three manager Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Alex Ferguson. Guardiola departed from Barcelona AFTER we published the story. Mourinho will continue with Real Madrid. Sir Alex will remain with Man U until he turns to stone. What was our take on the subject… read on from our Top 10 chart below.

But this is the real substance to this months ratings... the American Idol TV debacle. There is no doubt that this season American Idol series was the most baffling of all so much so it raised so many red flags that it became an investigation more than a review. Our slant on the proceedings took on a life of it's own in devastating our charts in notching 9 spots in or NR Top 10 rankings.

Every season our reviews of American idol always command an enormous amount of attention but never like this. Our conspiracy perspective took on a life of its own and went viral given that we began this seasons Idol coverage February 12th. That month none of our Idol stories made that charts and the Idol Sub Page failed to register on being a most visited section.

Two stories made the charts in March and April. The Idol Sub Page was ranked 8th in March to 6th In April and leaped to 1st this month. April 6th we noted that apparently the FIX WAS IN FOR PHILLIPS TO WIN. That was after Deandre Barckensick was eliminated.

Our suspicions were raised about the tremendous amount of attention given by the judges, host Ryan Seacrest and in house mentor Jimmy Iovine to contestant Phillip Phillips. The over the top attention was more than was given to super talent and voice Adam Lambert who unfortunately was the runner-up in season eight. The difference being that Phillips was praised as having a great voice and plays great guitar. It was that guitar statement by judge randy Jackson and Iovine that really raised the red flags. At that point we knew that something was wrong with this picture.

The attention given to Phillips was so unbalanced that if it were a US presidential race it would be ILLEGAL as equal time is required for all of the top contenders in the race. This season on Idol it was apparent that this was not going to be a race at all but appeared to be a FIX for Phillips to win. The judges overdid what they were supposed to do and judge they promoted and touted Phillips as being a great talent. We though he was one of the worst in the contest from the beginning.

Being a musician and having worked with some of the greatest musician in the world I can assure you that Phillips isn't a great guitarist. It was this attitude that we took from the time that we noticed the promotions of one while slighting others who had more talent.

Apparently our readers were interested in what we had to say as the ratings indicate. Quite frankly we were shocked. We noticed the favoritism from the 9th position after Hejun Han was eliminated. At that point we noted that it appeared that the fix was in for Phillips to win. As the season progressed we continued to view the supposed contest with a discerning eye. Each time our suspicions were confirmed. When judge Jennifer Lopez cautioned Phillips to be careful with his song selections since that night he made a bad choice she then added, "I WANT YOU TO WIN PHILLIP," and that was the straw that broke the camels back.

SECTIONS MOST VISITED

Only four sections retained their place in the NR Top 10 Most Sections Visited. There were several never before sections that are first time entrants. The interest in Cambodia's Freshie Girl & Boy contest is on steroids with astonishing attention given to the Contest sections from 2007 and 2008.

In part that is due to our separating on page into separate sections for that particular season at the beginning of this year. Our reason why was for demographic purposes to see what was the most interesting season to our readers. Since we discontinued our coverage and participation as a judge of the event in 2008 due to our concern about questionable ethics 2008 was that last season that we were involved.

The section has always maintained interest but found a resurgence of energy when we included our reports of the Sabay Contest on the Freshie page. The relationship of Sabay in being the primary sponsor of the contest in 2011 and having several former Freshie contestants in their competition was the underlying reason why. The Sabay contest was toured as being the Grammy Awards of Cambodia. Sabay failed to deliver in concept and integrity. More on that subject will be included in an upcoming Entertainment column.

Cambodia Travel Tips is another surprise. Again we have ignored covering the subject since a very bad experience with a Ministry of Cambodian Tourism employee. His unprofessional and illegal (by Western standards) behavior is indicative of the climate and lack of professional leadership in the ministry. The primary interests on the page are the photos from the ASEAN Tourism Forum in January 2011 where the incident occurred. More on topic will be featured in a future column.

Cambodian Sports returned after a log absence. Again we refused to cover Cambodian sports after a change in leadership, involvement with gambling and our concerns regarding poor decision making. We are not cheerleaders and the truth is not so good. Our most recent coverage was Cambodia's national basketball team bringing in players of Cambodian heritage from foreign countries. Out follow-up revealed more negative results and behaviors. Why the interest is mystery given that nothing is new.

The BIZ WHO IS section returned. This is a come and go section. Its relevance this month is tied into American Idol as it contains stories about the management of the show. The other point of interest is our previous coverage of the entertainment business, MTV and key figures in the development of pay per view television.

ARCHIVES

Our Archives section is also American Idol and talent contest related. Our story of Philippine talent contest winner Laarni LoSala who was verbally abused in the Dream Academy contest has many similarities and elements as this season's American Idol contest. EMPHASIS is the key word in their similarity. Idol emphasized in an over the top manner the promotion of winner Phillip Phillips. EMPHASIS was also the factor in a negative way of how judges and contestants treated LoSala (aka Lozada) throughout the season. She won via viewers votes that were calculated ON AIR in contrast to the mysterious way in which the American Idol votes are tabulated. This story is has joined our ALL TIME most read Top 10 stories list.

NBA Trivia continues to draw strong interest. The reasons why are obvious as it is also one of our ALL TIME most read stories, you be the judge it's up to you to discern the reasons why.

Our University Games coverage in the last century returned to the limelight. It was a column that previously rose up the charts dropped and now has returned again. This is a go figure story.
