They did it again on American idol in choosing a bad song for Jessica Sanchez and a good song for Phillip Phillips. It appears our prophecy is justified that the minority contestants would be set up to fail to enable Phillip Phillips to as judge Jennifer Lopez exclaimed, "I WANT YOU TO WIN PHILLIP!" - Recommended TV Listings

THE JIMMY IOVINE PROBLEMATIC CONNECTION

The setup up continues for Phillip Phillips to win this season's American idol title. In today's finale being given the wrong song at the wrong time was issued to Jessica Sanchez. She like fellow minority Joshua Ledet was given a terrible song to sing in the last of her three songs in the final performance show and received bad reviews from the judges.

After being out-sung by Sanchez during the first two songs Phillips was given a song that the judges led by Randy Jackson stood up and applauded. Our prophecy about the two minorities would be SET UP to FAIL came to fruition again.

We take notes as we watch the show and although we think that Sanchez has the superior voice she was given a song by some unknown person or source that was not suitable for her voice. After singing about a third of the song we wrote "This is a bad song for her… TERRIBLE.

Host Ryan Seacrest primed her demise when he said this is the song that Jessica will sing IF SHE WINS. With the song she was given she was SET UP TO FAIL. As the judges rolled off their negative comments they all agreed that the pop ballad song was not for her. Jennifer Lopez gave her some very interesting and needed advice by advising Jessica to take more control of the material given to her. She should say no this isn't for me and decline to do it. She advised her that it was her career that she has to take more control over.

All of the judges said that she did a good job singing the song but it was not the right tune for her type of voice. The lack of transparency continues as it was not revealed who was responsible for advising her to do the song but after the judges negative critiques the cameras showed a SMILING Jimmy Iovine the shows in house mentor that gave bad songs to Ledet and Sanchez last week leading to Ledet being eliminated. The good news is Iovine admitted his mistake and took full responsibility. The BAD NEWS is the damage was done OR the MISSION WAS CARRIED OUT.

When Phillips sang his song that he would record IF HE WINS the judges went overboard with praise. Our notes pointed out that he couldn't sing the LOW NOTES. The judges were searching for great things to say about his performance as Jackson kept pimping Phillips off as the next great music industry star.

"Brilliant, genius," said Jackson. Lopez excitedly said that there was nothing on the radio like Phillips and Steven Tyler claimed that he heard a little Paul Simon in Phillips voice, "You're perfect tonight AND I THINK YOU'RE THE MAN," he exclaimed.

It is done and dusted as Sanchez appears to have been done in by the powers that be (PTB) and her hopes of winning the title are slim to none.

Of note the shows creator had his hands in the pie in selecting the contestants their first song to sing. He did right by Sanchez issuing her Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing. He didn't do Phillips any favors as he was dealt Ben E Kings 'Stand By Me' which is a song and singer most of the voting audience most likely never heard of. The selection went against the grain of advice given to contestants on the NEVER DO LIST. This applies to NEVER DO A SONG THAT PEOPLE CAN'T RELATE TO. This song is about 50 years old.

The bottom line is we believe that the show is FIXED and the winner is determined by the PTB's i.e. sponsors, producers and the network with ratings and advertising dollars being the prime target. Therefore the determine who will be the most popular TV draw fro ratings and they all make money forcing forward popularity over talent.

Iovine is overly fond of Phillips talent and appear to be frosting at the mouth to produce his records. The meticulous manner of his selection of songs for Phillips indicates they are the perfect match and Iovine will get his man to produce.

Iovine praised other contestants but he also gave them negative comments. He does with Phillips as well but he quickly follows up and candy coats it by saying that Phillips does well given his sickness. Phillips had a kidney stone operation at the beginning of the competition but performed the following day. From that point of he was deemed as brave and became the CHOSEN ONE.

The PTB's went for the sympathy vote and it worked. A person in the audience at the final held up a sign that said PHEEL (yes it was phonetically spelled this way) BETTER PHILLIP.

Iovine's fondness for Phillips is found in Iovine's background of being more closely related with rock music than any other genre. His song choices were refuted by other contestants in the past as they did not agree with his opinion. The irony is the contestants were found to be right.

As a mentor on the tenth season of Idol, Iovine's credibility as a long time music man is now under scrutiny. On April 13, 2011, he made public statements of disparity over the song choices of contestants Casey Abrams and James Durbin. Both Abrams and Durbin stuck to their guns and sang their original song choices, much to the chagrin of Iovine. As it turned out, both contestants' song choices were a hit.

Iovine has had major successes in the music business but it is a no brainer that we all can't be right all of the time…that's life. Iovine's strength and the majority of his success come from rock music which helps explain his fondness for Phillips.

He started in the business as a recording engineer in the mid-1970s, working with Raspberries, John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen. He went on to produce albums for U2 (Rattle & Hum), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks, Simple Minds, Dire Straits, Flame (featuring Marge Raymond, Jimmy Crespo, Bob Leone, and others), and Patti Smith. Iovine established Interscope Records in 1991 with the release of Gerardo's Mo' Ritmo. It went on to become Interscope-Geffen-A&M following Universal's acquisition of PolyGram when Iovine was named co-chairman; in 2001, he became chairman.

He is credited with having given Eminem's demo tape to Dr. Dre, who signed him to his Aftermath label. In 2002, Iovine co-produced the hit Eminem movie 8 Mile and in 2004, he and Paul Rosenberg signed a first-look feature deal with Paramount Pictures and MTV Films for their Interscope/Shady/Aftermath banner. Iovine co-produced the first film under the deal, Get Rich or Die Tryin', starring 50 Cent. In 2003, he was co-executive producer of Enrique Iglesias's album Seven. In January 2008, Iovine, Dr. Dre and Monster Cable released Beats by Dr. Dre high-performance headphones. Iovine is also an executive producer with LeBron James and Maverick Carter of the documentary More Than A Game, which was released in the fall of 2009.

Lady Gaga has thanked him several times during her acceptance speeches, as he was the one to sign her to Streamline/Interscope shortly after her 2007 performance at Lollapalooza. Eminem also has mentioned him several times during his acceptance speeches.

The bottom line is although Iovine is a proven success none of his previous experiences have been with a talent that has a quality voice like Jessica Sanchez. Although in his relationship with Idol he can pick and choose who he would like to produce he is out of his element with a talent like Sanchez. She would be better off being produced by Quincy Jones who has produced some of the best voices ever including three of Michael Jackson's best selling albums Off The Wall, Thriller and BAD. The problem is what type of choke-hold does Idol have with the contestants who have agreed to certain terms to be in the show? Stay tuned…
