AMERICAN IDOL DOMINATES CHARTS

Sports made the Top 3 with the most read subjects being Guus Hiddink, KaKa and David Beckham. Sports took four (1,2,3 & 5) of the top 10 spots. The FIFA Top 10 ratings continue to draw numerous views. The NR Top 10 for March, February and January respectively topped the ratings but given they are a composite of the most read stories we will not include them is or ratings this month.

Our Video Beat April Part 2 column became this month's fastest mover as it bolted up the charts to the third position within six days of its release. The topic was American Idol's Heat Is which revealed the vulnerability to pressure and lack of self identification of some of the contestants.

The judge's favorite contestant Megan Joy Corkery totally lost it as she was voted into the bottom three for the first time after weeks of receiving undue praise from the AI judges. After her performance of Bob Marley's 'Turn Your Lights Down Low' judge Simon Cowell said "The things we liked about you are disappearing. That song was boring, monotonous and self indulgent."

When AI host Ryan Seacrest informed Megan Joy that she was in the bottom three she was a bit strange and leaped across the stage making wild noises on her way to her bottom three seat. Seacrest then repeated Cowell's critique and asked for her opinion to which she replied, "I love you Simon but I don't care."

At the end of the show the judges can save the last of the bottom three contestants. That contestant then is given a chance to perform and possibly be saved. After the performance a decision is made based on the judges feeling towards the contestant and their performance. Seacrest asked Cowell if he would consider saving Megan Joy to which Cowell replied, "Megan with greatest respect when you said I don't' care nor do we. This is your swan song enjoy it."

Of all American Idols shows that we've reviewed this is most likely the one we'll remember the most given how a contestant fell from grace so rapidly and ungracefully. As Hall & Oates sang 'She's Gone' but the American Idol show goes on.

Our Video Beat television review column took five of the Top 10 rankings. The most relevant personalities of those stories are American Idol's Bikini Girl challenging AI's new judge Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul losing the plot with outrageous comments to a blind contestant and a review of the Grammy Awards.

In a surprise move the Entertainment and Business news dominated the NR Top 10 charts of the reports most viewed this past month. Though two of the reports DIRECTV Announces Lineup For SXSW Live and Two Disc Greatest Hits Album from Multi-Platinum Artist Incubus made the top 10 other news reports made a heavy impact on the remainder of the Top 40 stories published.

Reports on the NCTA's (National Cable Television Association) Cable Show made the greatest impact with every report of the event being widely read. Reports on the music business also made a strong showing as two of those reports actually made it to the Top 10 but given they are press releases we won't include them on our ratings since they are not generated by our NR writers or contributors.

Our 2008 Year in Review Part 2 notched the seventh spot. We only published the first half of 2008 since much of the activity is on an aggregate basis we will publish the remainder of that year in the coming weeks.

Given the renewed interest in Cambodia we have selected our feature from October 2000 titled Cambodian Football Rising From The Ashes as our Archive feature.

TOP SECTIONS VISITED

Interest in American Idol reigns supreme as that section is our most visited section this past month after rocketing up the charts from the eighth position the previous month. International football/soccer notched the second spot followed by Entertainment.

There were several minor shifts on sections most visited chart with all of the sections most visited remaining from the previous month with the exception of Cambodia Travel Tips replacing the TV/Video Beat section. The momentum of the TV section has been shifted to American Idol since that program is currently airing its eighth season.

This past month we have split that section into three parts with specific pages for the current season and each of the past two seasons. The Cambodia section primarily functions as a gateway of the activities in Cambodia with spin off sections for sports, features, travel tips and our Phnom Penh column.

So what changes will the spring bring? Stay tuned…

The Top 10 most visited sections are:
