NGO'S - GREEDY, SEEDY OR...

Cambodian children are sold into prostitution by their parents. Some NGO's are doing something about it by creating a business and others teach and provide jobs. Other NGO's raise millions of dollars in donor money and.... just talk about it. OPERATION SMILE GIVES WITHOUT ASKING - COMING... INNOCENCE LOST - (NR Photo)

NR TOP 10 March 2010 - NR's TOP 10 TOP 10's - KaKa, David Beckham and Jose Mourinho Create Major Impact

James Loving - National Radio Text Service

We've been Googled out due to inept Khmer connections and lack of quality of work and ethics. The result being is that we're turning a sows ear into a silk purse and taking a look from the Khmer language search list at what the Khmers are looking for. Check this out!!!

KHMERS POINT OF VIEW of NR's TOP 10'S

Well as they say if you can't beat them join them. So in our Google search we came upon a problem that has happened on the past that being our ENTIRE list wasn't available in English but the Khmer connection it was. So with that challenge we decided to publish what was searched for in the Khmer language while perhaps there is something physiology beneficial from this report.

Three of the top 10 were from 2007 and 2008 while 2009 topped the list with four NR Top 10 columns being searched. November 2009 with CHANGES AT THE TOP - TELEVISION RETURNS was the big winner. That was a special edition where we separated the Top 10 list from the body of the story to see what was driving the interest. This was our most recent Top 10 to make this list.

What stands out about that column is a picture of three Khmer children who ere attending an anti child trafficking presentation by IOM. The picture tells the story of what NGO's are doing something about it and others who are simply in it for the money and the colonial lifestyle that comes with a high paying NGO job that produces little results but reveals how foreigners exploiting the unfortunate situation of poor, oppressed Khmers and hustling US taxpayer and donor funding.

August 2007 took the second sport and that was a sports focused column with Jose Mourinho nailing the limelight. The column also highlighted NBA BEAT ranks # 1 - NR Top 1- takes 2 spots - Biz Who Is with Warren Buffet Moves To It's Highest Position Ever - Jose Mourinho, Kobe Bryant, Peyton Manning, Iraq National Team, Larry King & Don King Make The List - SEARCH ENGINES GUILTY OF INTERNET THEFT?

The third position was taken by August 2009 titled SPORTS, BECKHAM & KAKA RULE. It was a strong football oriented column where Kaka, Beckham and Mourinho took the spotlight. The strange this is that KaKa has been our most searched football figures this past year.

July 2007 is our oldest most searched column in taking the seventh spot. There was a strong regional flavor in that piece with recording star Ronan leading the way as well as the Philippines Big Brother taking 7 of 10 spots.

The most surprising of the sections visited listed was our BIZ WHO IS section which quite frankly we've largely ignored. The strength of the section is archive material that dates back to the 70's with my experience with the first ever Pay Per View Company SelecTV and or interview with Bob Pittman the first president of MTV.

The twist to the SelecTV link is it is the SelecTV News Letter with pictures. A point of interest is that Bill Mechanic who produced this seasons Academy Awards show and was CEO of Twentieth Century Fox Filmed Entertainment from 1994 to 2000. He is largely known for overseeing and releasing the blockbuster movie hit the "Titanic" (1997) the biggest ever box office money maker until Avatar raised the box office money grossing bar.

While he was chairman and He also oversaw production of "Braveheart" (1995), and "Boys Don't Cry" (1999) and Fight Club. While at SelecTV as Director of Programming Mechanic wrote a column in the SelecTV news letter and was on our baseball team. Hey I don't make them up folks. You can't change history.

Also in the BIZ WHO IS is a revealing look of SelecTV's founder Bob Block well as Simon Fuller the creator of American Idol and the man behind the deal that brought David Beckham to the LA Galaxy.

The entertainment section from 2007 also kindles some interest as it is a repeat visitor to the Top 10 sections visited. Why the interest? Check it out.

For our archives section we chose a story about the beginnings of a youth football program in Cambodia. It was supported by the Don Bosco School which donated their field for the games. Unfortunately due to corruption the league failed within a year.

Another sidelight about this story it was brought to out attention that the story had a bad link which aroused our renewed interest in the piece and investigation of the problem. The individual did find the story by search our Top 10 list through the September 2008 listing.

It was a story of hope but in Cambodia many projects that are originally well intended fail due to greed and the thirst for money resulting in the poor and oppressed continue to suffer.

So what's next? Stay tuned…
