MUSIC IS THE DRIVING FORCE

While Google's rating practices are being scrutinized by the US government it enhances our position that they are not trustworthy. How can Google justify New Zealand radio having the top five spaces on a National Radio page which lists 1.5 billion listings. Since when did new become national? Why would one organization have more than ONE LISTING? It's a no brainer that Google makes plenty of money selling advertising and the listings page is a provider of one of those revenue streams.

In July of this year we experienced our listing being totally removed apparently by Google's Hong Kong office or by the Chinese government. Our usual mid first page position (5th-6th) after New Zeeland's questionable five was replaced by China National Radio. At least National Radio is in their title BUT that listing was the only listing on the page written IN CHINESE. GO FIGURE. Does that qualify for MANIPULATION?

At the time we were filing stories from China including our report that China's high speed train system having problems. Within two weeks our concerns were realized as 40 people died in a high speed train wreck.

An American business associate who owns business in China advised us that our situation would change once we left China. His prophecy came to reality roughly 30 days after our departure. We also criticized some thin skinned business representatives of Yao Ming which apparently ruffled some feathers. We believe in the man up principle and deal with the truth and leave your sensitivity's and insecurities at home. Let's get it on. Apparently some Chinese and foreign carpetbaggers fail to adhere to those standards.

As they say life goes on and Google will have to settle their questionable business practices with the US government. We're still trying to trace the source of the problem with the NBA remaining on the list. Behaviors will bring the guilty to the surface.

This month was a first time that one of our Entertainment Beat columns took the first position. It was about a sad situation as it focused on the passing of a friend and great actor Peter Falk who gained most of his fame in the role of Lieutenant Columbo in the detective series Columbo.

Of the remaining nine Top 10 spots our TV/Video reviews took five places while three of our Phnom Penh columns followed and sports taking one.

The only sports column to make the standings was CAMBODIA'S MYSTERIOUS RISE in the FIFA Ranking's which took the second position.

Of the five ranked TV/Video columns the music themed shows The Voice and The Glee Project singing contests were the focus of four of those most read columns with American Idol notching the other.

Cambodia's Sabay contest which is intended to be the Grammy Awards of Cambodia was also featured in the Video Beat column which captured the third spot. In that piece 10 of the Sabay contestants requested that their photos and names be removed from the competition. That column was the fastest moving column up the charts this month. It was published Sep. 10th. We took our sample Sep. 28th.

SECTIONS MOST VISITED

We returned the Freshie Girl & Boy contest sub page to our listings and it ranked first of the subject pages most viewed. We previously removed the listing and link due to our decision not to cover the event due to what we felt were improprieties in the competition.

Since the Sabay contest has several former Freshie competitors listed in their competition we decided to enter our Sabay stories on the Freshie page. That helps explain its current and regained popularity.

Also Sabay was a major sponsor of the last Freshie contest therefore they have a very strong relationship as well as sharing questionable integrity. With that being the case we are tracking the interest in the Sabay event which has missed deadlines and proposed promises. It has lost credibility before completing its first competition.

Also in the most ACTIVE SECTIONS the Freshie section was followed by last month's leaders Soccer 2nd and Sports Notes 3rd.

Our Phnom Penh columns continue to maintain strong interest in retaining the 4th position. The remaining spots are holdover from last month with a slight change in positions and the NFL dropping off.

Entertainment also fell off the charts but surprisingly the mysterious Entertainment 2007 section returned. We still can't figure out what is in that section that is attracting so much attention. It's a section that comes and goes over the years. Take a look and tell us what you think.

ARCHIVES

Our ARCHIVE columns are in tribute to the resignation of Carol Rodley the American Ambassador to Cambodia effective today. The other feature is of her predecessor Joseph A. Mussomeli who departed the post in August 2008.

Till next month cheers…
