ROCK N ROLL NURSE ELIMINATED ON AMERICAN IDOL

After being the first act of 11 performances and giving an energetic rendition of the Beatles 'USSR' Amanda Overmyer was put to task by AI judge Simon Cowell who said "A bit of a mess in parts," and added that she was becoming a bit boring as each week she sang an up-tempo song in the style of Janis Joplin. Judge Randy Jackson said her voice was a little pitchy and Paula Abdul noted that she was singing a little bit a head of the beat.

Overmyer exuberantly defended herself saying that it was the real her and she wanted the audience to know what type of show they would see when they came to watch her perform. Cowell pointed out that she was a little bit ahead of herself implying that she wasn't as yet chosen as the American Idol. Overmyer again defended herself by noting that she wanted to please her audience even if it were at a bar in Lafayette (Indiana).

The lady referred to as the Rock n Roll nurse (her regular job) experienced a lot of adversity on her road to the AI Top 12. After receiving a ticket to Hollywood as a result of her successful audition in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) she had an auto accident a week prior to the Hollywood tryouts in which she suffered some serious injuries . The 23-year-old nurse recovered and was triumphant in Hollywood where all of the judges praised her style and gave her credit for being an original and not a copy cat of Janis Joplin.

She was flying high until she reached the 11th spot and her encounter with Cowell.. Overmyer was in the bottom three surprisingly along with Carly Smithson the transplanted Irish woman who is recognized as having one of the best voices in the competition. Throughout the competition Smithson has been praised by all of the judges. They said that America (SMS voting) got it wrong in selecting her to be in the bottom three. Smithson was the first call to the bottom three but also the first to be saved.

Kristy Lee Cook was the other candidate for elimination. For the third consecutive week she was in the bottom two. When AI host Ryan Seacrest announced that America saved her again a look of shock shot across Overmyer's face. She swallowed the news hard but took the loss graciously and sang the 'USSR' again as the show came to a close.

For Overmyer it was a double loss. Her love to perform and be among the AI top 10 contestants that would tour together this summer was gone. Her AI performing career was over as the march continues on in the quest o find who will be the next American Idol.

Note:

Since starting the final 12 the show airs only two days a week Wednesday and Thursday in the Asian region and Tuesday and Wednesday in America.

MORE MYSTERY LOOMS OVER FRESHIE CONTEST

More mystery surrounds Cambodia's Freshie Girl & Boy contest regarding what will become of the Rising Star winner who was supposed to receive a recording contract with CMM records. Since the choice of four nominees (2 girls and 2 boys) were made CMM's CEO Glenn LaSalle has left the company as well as his 2nd and 3rd in command.

LaSalle who is Thai and formerly associated with the renown Grammy Records in Thailand said that a Cambodian was now in charge of the company. The company was formed in partnership with Grammy Thailand and Cambodian investors.

On the surface it appears that this is a lose, lose situation for the Freshie winner to be announced March 31 during the contest final scheduled to be televised on Cambodia's TV 5. Will the new company heads employ the plans of the previous regime?

Since that time LaSalle has formed a company The Artist Connection with his partner Reginald Xavier who was also involved with CMM. The duo was involved in the production of the hugely successful Stacie Orrico concert in Phnom Penh yesterday Saturday March 15th. Stay tuned....

NOTE:

Freshie organizers wanted to make the point that they did have an offer to supply SMS voting for the contest but they did not agree on terms.
