AMERICAN IDOL ROCKS THE CHARTS

SECTIONS MOST VISITED

Our NR Top 10 findings had a surprise in store for us this month as entertainment and television reviews leaped up the charts of our SECTIONS most visited. Though the American Idol television and tour seasons are over our continued coverage helped that category in taking the number one position of the sections most visited. The entertainment section came from nowhere and rocketed on to the charts in locking down the second spot while our television and video reviews moved up a notch to command fourth in the rankings. We're leading with this information as it is an extreme departure from previous ratings to have the entertainment genre take three of the top 4 spots in this category.

TOP 10 NR STORIES

In the overall top stories category American Idol locked up five top story positions in our NR Top 10 standings. Our top American Idol story is ranked # 3rd with the focus on then 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez titled JESSICA SANCHEZ ROCKS AMERICAN IDOL. It was at this point the world became familiar with the talented Sanchez which prompted the comment, "I would sign her up tonight," said American Idol in house mentor Jimmy Iovine regarding 16-year-old AI contestant Jessica Sanchez.

The tiny Latino from San Diego, California with a big voice rocked the house on girl's performance night. Her rendition of Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do" was the performance of the week as she projected a talent, voice and confidence seldom EVER seen on the program as she pranced around the stage belting out her song.

The piece also noted the dismissal of Jermaine Jones in an embarrassing moment that led many to question the integrity of Idol's management. Many of the viewing public acknowledged that although Jones was guilty of not telling Idol staff during interviews about having traffic warrants for his arrest that they should have been considerate enough not to televise his discharge as they have in the past with other contestants with similar problems including one who was arrested for burglary. This was the beginning of another fiasco of a season.

THE BUZZ was Internet reports noted that many fans were upset in the way Idol handled Jones dismissal. Many felt they should not have televised it. Some media accused Idol of knowing of Jones history prior to the Top 24 selections and called him back with the intention of doing what they did in eliminating him on the show while being televised in order to boost sagging television ratings.

IT'S AMERICAN IDOL TIME 4 NEW JUDGES ranked # 6 released Thursday September 20, 2012 is our fastest rising overall close to the published date story when we took our sample Friday September 28th. The interest in Idol also from our critical point of view enabled our Idol coverage to also take the 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th positions. Two of those stories involve the judge's changeover after Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez quit the show after only two seasons.

In a one off release of our Top 10 most read of our Phnom Penh columns list was our second fastest riser of the month. This type of column will be an annual release.

The focal points of interest in the piece are links to You Tube videos regarding the human rights atrocities in Cambodia and the beating of elderly women being carried off to prison, tried and convicted within several hours. There is another link to the beating and arrest of 13 women in an area of Phnom Penh who were defending their homes and possessions from being demolished.

The column points out the injustice being applied by the Cambodian powers that be particularly in government and those who are in concert with the business elite. It reveals that their focus is in their own self interests in acquiring wealth at the expense of the poor and their indigenous people.

The 2nd spot went to a Sports Notes column with the Los Angeles Lakers and USA national team player Kobe Bryant titled KOBE BRYANT DREAMS 2012 USA OLYMPIC TEAM IS BETTER THAN 1992 USA DREAM TEAM.

Quite frankly that was a bold statement as during 10 years of covering the NBA I've interviewed and have witnessed every one on the 1992 Dream team play thus it made me wonder what is Kobe smoking? Bryant later thought about it and recanted his statement and realistically said that at least the 2012 team could defeat the 92 team at least one game. Now that makes sense. Those players assembled in 92 are a one off and unlikely ever to be duplicated again.

Given the strong interest from our readers in American Idol this month we took a look back for two of our most popular and memorable Idol stories and moments. One being the lovely Antonella Barba who failed to qualify for the Top 12 and the regular season but she did spice Idol life up when saucy photos of her emerged on the Internet.

The interesting thing is at that time Idol had some integrity and downplayed the incident. Even Simon the executioner Cowell showed some sympathy for the young lady and he noted as he gave her a bad critiques that her poor performance was understandable given what she was experiencing throughout the week after the photos surfaced. Bottom line is we LOVE Antonella as she was a stand up lady who toughed it out. The bottom line is they gave her more respect than they did with African American Jermaine Jones.

Our other mother of a story was the unforgettable Bikini Girl. BG had the balls of an elephant as she projected her haughty attitude throughout the audition stage and decided sleep was more important than rehearsing with her group in the Hollywood group audition stage. That was back in the day when then judge Kara DioGuardi took exception to the male judges giving her a gold ticket to Hollywood. DioGuardi felt that their decision was made based on the males being swept off their feet with the Bikini Girls body when she did her audition in a very revealing bikini.

Following her refusal to rehearse she was sent home only to be a surprise guest during the Idol final that season which prompted DioGuardi to jump on stage and interrupt BG singing her song as DioGuardi began singing and the REVEALED HERSELF IN A TWO PIECE BATHING SUITE. BG got into the drift of it all and they sang together. Long live the Bikini Girl as she ranks in our all time one of our American Idol most memorable contestants.

Last month we initiated publishing the Top 3 most read press releases. Shockingly the release regarding Business & Entertainment - Linda Yaccarino Named President Advertising Sales for NBCUniversal published Wednesday September 26, 2012 took the number one spot within three days.

The second most read release was the Gray Television Group Selects On Call Communications in purchasing their news gathering satellite trucks and equipment. That was release September 16th.

The third most read press release was an oldie and hard to figure why the interest other then the Grammy Awards is approaching and this release was about the 2012 GRAMMY Nominees Album that included 20 songs including the first four listed: 1.
